Jeanette has over 20 years experience in nonprofits and over 13 years in advocating for children with unique abilities. Jeanette is Puerto Rican American and has lived in Colorado for about 24 years. Prior to that she was born in NYC and raised in Miami, Florida.
Jeanette is the proud mom of a teen son who is chromosomally enhanced and has a lot of charm to spread around. Jeanette knows first-hand the challenges and wonderful journey it is being a parent of a child with unique abilities.
Jeanette graduated May 2011 with her Associates in Liberal Arts, Cum Laude from Community College of Denver. She graduated December 2014 with her Bachelor of Science in Human Services with a concentration in nonprofit and minors in Psychology and Spanish. She is also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Psi Beta National Honor Society in Psychology, and Human Services Organization at Metropolitan State University of Denver.
In addition to being a mom, Jeanette has volunteered her time as an Educational Surrogate Parent for the Colorado Department of Education over the past 6 years. She provides advocacy for children with disabilities whose parental rights were severed and need a representative in their individualized education plan meetings.
Jeanette has developed and maintained relationships with Spanish-speaking community in the area of disabilities for the past 24 years. Jeanette is eager to lend her talents to help families and organizations create positive environments for people with unique abilities.
The mission of Bright Futures and Jeanette is to support brighter futures for people with unique abilities through education consulting, advocacy and counseling.
